SPOILER ALERT!

Not my favourite type of fairy tale retelling

Loving a Fairy Godmother - Danielle Monsch
Like other reviewer said, i have to mention, that this story strongest point its the basic concept of it: The idea of a fairy Godfather in a world of Fairy Godmothers.

“Tiernan, you better prepare yourself, because you are going to cause quite a commotion as the first ever Fairy Godfather.”

Unfortunately i didn't like the way it was executed. For starters, i didn't like the colloquial dialogues:

“Could you cut me some slack considering the almost dying thing?”

Reina also heard that she’d offered a blowjob to Tiernan within the first thirty seconds of their meeting.

I'm reading a fantasy book, with knights and Fairy Godmothers/Fathers, i do not want those characters using twenty first century language.

I didn't like feeling confused as to when the story takes place. In the beginning one has this:

Tiernan had once told Reina that Godmother Sara, the Supreme Leader of the Fairy Godmothers, looked exactly how mortals thought FGs were supposed to look and showed her a print to prove it.

A print? Of what? Disney's Godmother?? O_O

Okay, that word, plus the modern speech, left me thinking that this was going to take place in the future (if only i could forget that the story had apparently started thirty years ago, and that Tiernan, a Knight(remember!) had been fighting dragons, the real ones, at the time)....

For me Print's don't play well with all those elements....

And then Cinderella was mentioned..and i was: Okay, when does this take place??
( i know, too much thinking for such a short story..)

Tiernan and Raina ended up making a cute couple. Also they had some intense/hot scenes...

They really left their mark on Cinderella story...cough...i mean education...but what can one say...its not like the poor girl had tv..or books...

Okay, so bottom line, the story had potential, and it could have been so much better! But in the end, the result was not that great...
